BARANGAY COMMUNITY SERVICES (BCS)

Bonito Crisologo Singson launches the Barangay Community Services.

A remarkable task indeed.

The youngest son of the late Mayor of Vigan -- Maestro Joseling Singson and Caridad Crisologo Singson. Most of his siblings are public servants which include the late Governor Titong Singson, Mayor Chavit, Vice-Governor Jerry, former PCSO Chair Honey Girl Singson de Leon, and Mayor Germy Singson Goulart of Caoayan.

While born to an affluent family, the early demise of his parents at his young age reinforced his determination to survive and to be successful in life. Bonito graduated from the Ateneo de Manila with a degree in Business Management. Against strong headwinds, he worked hard to become a successful businessman and built a small business empire in various industries such as in the food business, real-estate development, electronics and communications, financing, trading, trucking, and commercial/residential leasing.

He became a pioneering businessman in Vigan by bringing national brands like Jollibee, Chowking, and Red Ribbon. He built boutique commercial complexes with his Plaza Maestro brand in honor of his late father. He developed a memorial park, the Jardin de Caridad in honor of his late mother. His investments generated employment for many Vigan residents and its neighboring towns, created downstream industries for other businessmen and helped pave the way for more investments to come in. He is an amateur historian with a passion for heritage and ancestral restorations. His own home, known and referred to as Casa Caridad, remains one of the most faithfully-restored ancestral houses in Vigan. He inspired other owners of old houses there to recognize the essence of  restoration, thus many pursued what he initiated. In building the structures for his businesses, he remained faithful to the architectural values that made Vigan a UNESCO World Heritage City in the Philippines.

But while a man may have many plans in life, God determines his steps and has the final word. So fate foisted the public life on him. His election as a representative in Congress gave him more inspiration to champion the rights of fellow-probinsyanos, and as a "probinsyano" himself, Congressman Singson knows the importance of having an example to fuel the vision of every probinsyano who has the same dream as his -- to be successful in a specific field and to give back to his province where his fate started.

At present, Bonito chairs the Committee on Public Accounts and has authored some 33 House measures while co-authoring 17 and counting. And among his principally-authored bills, he is most passionate in what he calls "End to Endo Bill" which aims to give employees the opportunity for longer and gainful employment while also enjoying mandatory social benefits employees are entitled to through the extension of a maximum allowable period of probationary employment from 6 months to 24 months.

Thus, Congressman Singson envisions a better future for his fellow-probinsyanos by crafting laws that champion their rights and their needs by serving as an example to everyone whose dreams may finally come to a reality someday.
