FROM RM TO RM

I marvel at the pristine beauty and historic value of this classic Monopol lighter which was given as a gift to my friend Rodolfo 'Rudy' Molina by President Ramon Magsaysay. He served as National Security Adviser to RM. The year was 1956, just a year earlier before that tragic plane crash which claimed the life of a Filipino president. As for Manong Rudy? He is still around at 99 years old and is still full of stories to tell about his years with RM. I keep telling myself to keep writing in my journal his experiences because he may one day lose them all from his memory bank, or worse, we may lose him being a 99-year old man already. This pandemic has cut short my visits to his daily kafeeklatsch nook, and so I must attempt contacting him again. His stories are beautifully remembered and are worth turning into a book of memories from someone who was close to President Magsaysay.
